Dr. Guillory’s path to becoming a psychologist was not a direct one. Immediately after college, he worked as a business community organizer in the United States Peace Corps in the West Indies. Then, he returned home and joined the United States Naval Reserves. After the military, he worked in corporate America as a loan manager. Finally, just before graduate school, he worked as a firefighter for several years. He also actively participated in raising his two children with his wife during this time. These varied experiences have helped shape his understanding of people’s desire to make their lives work
